Contemporary Award: Brookville Community Foundation

The mission of Brookville Community Foundation is to give back to Brookville, Kansas, in order to preserve and grow it for this generation and for generations to come, giving those who grew up here a reason to stay and to inspire others to come to Brookville.

What began with a “Welcome to Brookville” sign has grown into more than $1 million in community investments, transforming a sleepy drive-through town into a place to gather and put down roots. Their efforts have supported the Ell-Saline Jr./Sr. High School scoreboard, elementary playground, Brookville Park, fire station, and community cleanups, while building pride through the annual Parade of Lights and Fall Harvest Festival.

In 2021, the group established its community fund at the Greater Salina Community Foundation, followed by the Brookville Legacy Fund in 2024, a permanent endowment fund that will forever support this beloved town. They have also become a fast favorite of Saline County fifth graders at GSCF’s Match Madness.

The Brookville Community Foundation is making its mark in its community one project at a time, and is a great example of what can be accomplished with a little bit of grit and dedicated volunteers.
