Over $16,000 in Grants Awarded by Community Foundation
The Greater Salina Community Foundation recently awarded more than $16,000 to nine charitable projects and organizations through its competitive Responsive grant cycle, held July 1–August 1.
This cycle’s grant recipients include the following:
• Crossroads Messenger- $500.00 toward t-shirts used to support, engage, and encourage students at South Middle School.
• Blessed Hope Family, Inc.- $2,500.00 toward installing a security system at the Salina facility to strengthen the safety of children, caregivers, volunteers, and staff.
• Salina Family YMCA- $2,500.00 to purchase secure storage solutions for YMCA’s Early Childhood Classroom transition.
• CKF Addiction Treatment- $2,496.38 toward purchasing supplies for 200 Residential Recovery Essentials Kits, which contain essential hygiene products for both men and women.
• City of Salina- $2,200.00 toward two certified ballistic vests for the Salina Police Departments Co-Responders.
• City of Salina- $1,250.00 toward rebranding the Salina Municipal Band including updated messaging, logo, and redesigned website.
• Salina Symphony, Inc.- $2,500.00 toward creating new soldier costumes that can be used for this year’s production of The Nutcracker as well as future productions.
• Gypsum Community Church -Giggles and Wiggles Childcare- $2,492.42 toward support and startup of Giggles and Wiggles Childcare including furniture, equipment, and basic items.
• City of Salina- $2,200.00 toward educational materials, transportation, and supplies for interactive classroom activities for the “Diversion Day” for 3rd Grade students at Heusner Elementary.
This round of grants was made possible by five funds at the community foundation in addition to Donor Advised Funds. The Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund, which supports projects and programs that improve the community’s quality of life; Fund for Early Childhood Care, Education, and Development, which supports organizations whose work furthers the care, education, development, health, safety, and human service needs of children; the Fund for Greater Salina which supports funds used for a variety of charitable causes that positively impact the community; the L.P. “Pat” Mullen Fund, which supports hands-on learning opportunities for youth in the areas of arts and humanities and science, technology and invention; George and Jeanne Frisbie Family Fund which supports programs and projects which provide food, hygiene products, clothing, dental care, and mental health services.
