Over $38,000 in Grants Awarded by Community Foundation

The Greater Salina Community Foundation recently awarded over $38,000 to 11 charitable projects and organizations through its competitive summer grant cycle. This year's grant recipients include funding toward supporting community programs, needed renovations, and educational materials in classrooms.

This cycle’s grant recipients include the following:

  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Salina- $5,000.00 toward Club Directors Academy training and technology.
  • Revive Integrative Health- $617.65 toward supplies to build adaptive Halloween costumes and expand the number of cars for trunk or treat.
  • Prairieland Market- $3,550.00 to purchase hardware and software to establish “Food is Medicine” program and accept Healthy Benefit Cards.
  • Salina Family YMCA- $1,000.00 toward digital display boards to improve communication and member engagement.
  • Salina Emergency Aid Food Bank- $3,500.00 toward software system, Levitate, to improve communication.
  • Saline County 4-H Development Fund- $10,000.00 to purchase pens for the goats, pigs, and sheep at the Saline County Expo Center.
  • Central Kansas Extension- $2,500.00 toward installing a bus stop at the Stimmel Community Garden.
  • Salina Art Center- $2,997.00 to purchase a STEAM curriculum, 15 BristleBot kits, as well as child-size tables and chairs.
  • Crossroads Messenger- $1,000 toward t-shirts and transfers as part of the project Respect and Kindness, Faith Hope, and Love at South Middle School.
  • City of Gypsum- $7,000 toward a new fence and gate for the Vicki Ade Memorial Park.
  • City of Salina- $1,800.00 toward educational materials, transportation, and supplies for interactive classroom activities for the “Diversion Day” for 3rd Grade students at Heusner Elementary.

This round of grants was made possible by four funds at the community foundation: the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund, which supports projects and programs that improve the community’s quality of life; the Kansas Health Foundation Fund, which supports the public health of Saline County; the Fund for Greater Salina which supports funds used for a variety of charitable causes that positively impact the community; the L.P. “Pat” Mullen Fund, which supports hands-on learning opportunities for youth in the areas of arts and humanities and science, technology and invention.
