Legacy Award: Mark & Jane Berkley
In 2013 Mark and Jane Berkley made a mark in the Foundation’s history by donating the funds needed to purchase its forever home on the 8th floor of the United Building. The Berkleys were Sustainers and had already established a donor advised fund and The Fund for Early Childhood Care, Education and Development. Mark also served on the Board of Directors from 2006-2014 and was chair of the finance committee during his second term.
The Berkleys were also founding donors of the Ottawa County Community Foundation and established the City of Tescott Improvement Fund to support the rural communities where they derived their livelihood. Contributing to the Foundation’s long-term future with the purchase of the building was also a way to give back to the people that supported them.
Although the Berkleys no longer live in Salina, they continue to make a mark in the community through their support of Match Madness. Last year they supported the match pool and made it possible for Ell-Saline 5th graders to donate $10 to their favorite charity at Match Madess.
